The “who” behind Funky Cups 

Funky Cups was founded by entrepreneurs David Kelly and Caroline Fitzsimons, owners of GCP Print, an innovative, technology-driven, green digital printing company.

Like many businesses throughout the pandemic, GCP Print was affected by government-imposed closures and business restrictions. With Ireland locked down shortly into the first half of 2020, like everyone else David and Caroline were out walking and enjoying a lovely cup of coffee when they noticed that one of the local coffee shops had no more branded cups and were using a generic cup.

With a background in print and manufacturing David found out from talking with the coffee shop owner that having to place a large, minimum quantity order and wait 6 to 8 weeks for delivery, just didn’t work for their business from a cash flow and stock holding point of view.

This conversation formed the basis of a David and Caroline’s idea to manufacture and custom print eco-friendly paper cups with small runs and fast turnarounds from their state-of-the-art facility in Dublin. They saw the opportunity to bring their in-depth experience of digital printing technology and knowledge of board, paper and inks plus the talent of their in-house design team to deliver customers with continuity of supply, smaller minimum orders and a much faster production turnaround. Soon after, Funky Cups was established, and a new era in eco-friendly, versatile, short-run & long-run, custom-printed disposable paper cups was born.
